I
have been meaning to update you on our latest adventure. Riley World went on a 7 day
Caribbean cruise with my sister and her family and G’s brother and wife. That
was 2 weeks ago.
Then
I got sick. For a week. And I lost my prescription glasses on one of the
flights home. So I couldn’t see. Now I feel like it may be too late. Or not?!?!
So perhaps I will just give you the highlights. With photos of course. In semi-point form (after all
some things do require a little explanation).
We
left at the crack of dawn (it may not look like the crack of dawn but we had to leave for the airport at 5am so work with me here) on a cold and rainy day. What better time to head
south.
Three
planes, two layovers and 12-1/2 hours later we made it to Fort Lauderdale
unscathed. Riley was a real trooper. I was able to schedule 3 flights (all
under 3 hrs) with 2 layovers between 2 and 2-1/2 hours (just enough time to get
something to eat and stretch our legs). It worked out great!
Our
home for seven nights.
R
got all settled in and never wanted to leave. Ever. As in he would have
preferred to stay in the stateroom if we let him.
BONUS: R got to sleep on the couch.
We
did convince him to go to the pool/hot tub. Once. Maybe twice.
It
was usually very busy around the pool so we opted to lounge around on the upper
decks.
We
visited 3 different ports. We were unable to dock at our last port due to sea
swells.
Cozumel
Cayman Islands
We had to take a Tender to shore. |

The trip home was a little more ummmm eventful. I will leave that for another post along with the pros and cons of cruising with Riley World. Let's keep this post all happy, happy shall we? :D
Don't think I didn't notice you were gone! I'm glad your absence was a result of a fabulous, warm trip!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a marvelous way to spend a week of winter.
:D And without internet too!!! Was a nice break.
DeleteIt was very fun! I had a hard time packing (being wet and cold here). Always blows my mind how the weather can be so different within hours (in this case...MANY hours) from home.
Looks like fun! But... yeah... waiting for blog 2. ;) The thought of cruising with K gives me hives. We tried it. Once. Let's just leave it at that. :P
ReplyDeleteHahaha....I'm sure you are (waiting for part 2 that is). I think you should share your story too. Just sayin. ;)
DeleteOh sweet!!! Just once I would love to go on a cruise.... but I am sure I would get hooked and want to keep going on them! But, I want to go to Alaska. you know, because it isn't cold and snowy enough here in Ontario, Canada! ha.
ReplyDeleteThe customer service on cruises is amazing!! If I didn't have any other responsibilities I think I could handle cruising around the world. ;)
DeleteAlaska eh?? Be sure to stop by here before you head north. :D
I'm so glad you had some happy travels. I'm waiting for part II also because whenever I travel with Lindsey, there may be a few good/happy moments, but she has made it clear that she doesn't like to travel. So there is always another story to tell. Riley does look quite happy in a couple of the photos. Good for him! (And you too!)
ReplyDeleteI have become quite proficient at taking a picture at the right moment. Thank goodness for digital. Haha! R sounds just like Lindsey. He would definitely rather stay home too. Like you said....always another story to tell. :P
DeleteAhhh, that looks so nice. I am so done with winter.
ReplyDeleteIt was really nice to have something to look forward to and came quicker than we thought. :D
DeleteHopefully this winter means you will have an awesome summer. *fingers crossed*
