Enough with the Shirt Shredding...
Not so #Wordless Wednesday

Boredom, stimming/self-regulating, or a symptom of seizure activity (hopefully the first or second)...your guess is as good as mine. Riley has taken to picking at the threads in his shirts and unravelling them to the point that the shirts become "pop tops" which is NOT a good look for a teenage boy or he is basically left wearing a poncho because he's ripped out all the seams (sorry I don't have a visual for this look).

<== Going for the "Pop Top" Look

The latest is the "Cuffless Sleeve" Look.
(Hard to see but the bottom hem has been taken apart)

Waiting for summer as we're running out of shirts and hopefully we'll be able to figure out what's going on. Oish.

  1. Okay -- that made me laugh. Kids to the funniest things. My youngest has a build-a-dog that has become his lap dog. I noticed the other day he was wrapping his own clothes around the dog for the animal's outfits. Only later did I notice he was taking scissors to them and cutting his shirts to fit the stuffed dachshund. I'm all for encouraging creativity -- but that is a bit much.

    1. Maybe you have a designer in the making??? :)

I just shake my head and buy shirts on sale! HA! Hopefully this too shall pass. *sigh*

  2. Shirts are disposable in my house, too. My son shreds them out of anger and frustration. Think Hulkomania. I sent him to school all winter in tee shirts so he couldn't chew the sleeves. So he gnawed on the collars instead.

    1. I was considering duct-taping all the seams. Haaahaa! I guess it could be worse and be his pants! Nobody wants to see whitie-tighties. Eeep!

  3. wow, he's really going to town!
I guess it's best to have him wear the same shirt until he's completely topless.

  4. The shirts look kinda cool that way. No?
Can you re-direct him toward a similar but more constructive craft?

    1. Ummmmm...kinda like an offshoot of "grunge"?!?!? ;P

I'm hoping this is just one of his shorter "idiosyncratic" behaviours. *sigh* It's always something "different" in Riley World. :D

  7. Eeek - he is certainly doing a number on these! I remember the sock thread picking phase. Of course this is when he had dance and had to have his shoes off for a solid hour, giving him full sock access! :P

    1. Ahhhh yes...the good old sock picking days! Those were such itty-bitty pieces too. These puppies are long enough to weave into a blanket or t-shirt! Boo hiss.

      4 more days!!! Woooo-hoooo! D
