Ten Things of Thankful #4

I like to think I am a positive person. I like to think I am a thankful, positive person. I think I may be wrong. Trying to come up with 10 things each and every week is hard! I know. Think small and go from there. My pea size brain can only think small and still…it is hard! Yes I am whining.

Not one to give up easily I will give it another go…

1.      I am thankful to be alive. I am serious. After my boxing class on Thursday I have not been able to operate my computer mouse for more than a couple of minutes. My arms hurt that much. I actually had to go without a martini on Friday night because I could not shake the shaker. It was THAT bad!

2.      I am thankful for Advil. My BIL said I should take it after I work out to help alleviate the pain that would follow the next day. I forgot this time. I took some on Friday night. It was too late.

3.      I could not type or swipe or do anything physical all day/night Friday. Thankfully I belong to a book club and was able to start on this month’s book “419” by Will Ferguson. I am sure to finish the book which is a good thing…I picked it. It is not always a given.

4.      An aunt recently passed away. She was a widow and had no children. “We” decided we could probably probate her will on our own. My cousin bought a book and completed all the necessary paperwork. I am very thankful for all her hard work.

5.      After our second trip to work at my friend’s school library, I thought it might be helpful for Riley to have some type of dividers to sort the books on the cart before shelving them. Being the pack rat an environmentally conscious recycler, we have plenty of cardboard boxes. Thankfully G volunteered to cut them up for me.

6.      There is always so much that needs to be done around the house. It can be depressing. I am thankful I did not have to leave the house all day Tuesday AND Wednesday. I did not get anything done. I was too depressed. It’s the thought that counts…right???

7.      I am thankful G took R to his Special “O” Athletic Club on Tuesday so I could stay in my home clothes make dinner. See number 6.

8.      We started Stage 2: Sauces & Condiments of Operation IFO on Wednesday. Yes I was very nervous. Riley did an amazing job! Thankfully I got it on video. Yes a blog post is coming. Yes I know you can’t wait.  :)

9.      Driving home in the pouring rain today I passed a soccer field. I am thankful that J2 no longer plays soccer. Ummm…not that I ever went to watch in the pouring rain. Hey…someone had to stay home with Riley. He hates the rain and it was a good opportunity for some father-son bonding.

10.   Our house is at the top of a long, dark driveway so we never get any Trick or Treaters. :(  It has been years since the boys have gone out on Halloween night so we no longer get copious amounts of candy unless I buy it. Which I do. I was all prepared to buy more today and was giddy about the fact that it might be 50% off. I went to the grocery store only to find…

Thankfully in the last candy aisle I found these:

What have you been thankful for this past week?

  1. I know what you mean I am a cynic at heart and coming up with a list is not always easy. I too box but haven't been able to lately and I really miss it. I don't miss the need for advil though. enjoy all that candy and maybe when you're feeling better you can have a martini to go with it

    1. This week I am going to write things down as they happen (hopefully) or else drown my sorrows in chocolate and alcohol. ;P

  2. Glad you were able to salvage the no Halloween candy...that is terrible. I did not have to buy post-Halloween candy b/c my boys still trick-or-treat. And they each ended up with a gallon-size Ziploc bag full. And that was AFTER sorting out the stuff they won't eat.

Thanks for another wonderful list! Have a fabulous week!

    1. My favourite part of Halloween used to be the sorting of the candy and playing "store" when I was a kid. Next year I will be prepared and buy more candy BEFORE Halloween. :)

  3. I can relate to the "Yea! I finally have free time to get things done!" turning into the "Whew! I finally have time to just sit down for a second!" and nothing actually gets done. I have to remind myself that every little bit counts. I don't think my house will ever be 100% organized and clean at the same time.

  5. We don't get trick or treaters either. That boxing class must have been intense!

    1. It's very intense when you've not been exercising since...ever! Our instructor does tell us to go at our own pace. I think I need to listen to her. Even G thinks it's crazy which makes me feel somewhat better. ;)

  7. WAHEY FOR #8 Way to go, Riley! That's awesome.

And superHUGE congrats to you for finishing the list. You did very well, and everything on it deserved to be there. Bear in mind that such list items as "I'm thankful that I have warm slippers on my feet" or "I'm thankful that this is #10" are totally legit under the Secret Rules Book of TToT...

The boxing sounds really tough! Well done you for going through with it, but definitely take the painkillers next time! Wow!

    1. What??? There's a Secret Rules Book of TToT??? Thanks for the heads up! Love the tips and don't be surprised if you seem then next week. Haha!

We are on a roll with Operation IFO!! Thanks! I so pleasantly surprised...no...make that quite shocked at his non-reaction. Keeps me motivated to keep going.

Think I should buy the Costco size of Advil next time. ;P

    2. I think Clark's in charge of the book - somehow rules keep getting added by him, anyway ;)

And I won't be surprised, but will be pleased to see you in the hop again :)

      YAY! for keeping going.

  8. ahh! the Secret Rules Book of TToT! it has totally saved me on more than one Saturday Morning… ("...clark? you have an appointment at 10, don't you? are you going to be getting off that computer soon?")

I often struggle with the list part of this bloghop… lol, I know, other than not being able to easily create a list of things that you are grateful for, how are you doing with the 'hop? Still is way fun!
    lol

  9. I am so impressed with your boxing! I took a class for awhile after I had my son. I was pretty good at it, except for the feeling that my arms were going to fall off, but I quit not long after finding out I was pregnant again and never gave it another try. I'll stick to Zumba for now.

I spent the entire day yesterday in my pajamas. I woke up in them, wore them all day, and went to bed in them again last night. What a sloth.

    1. Wow! I tried Zumba last year. My body is not meant to Zumba. The mirrors confirmed it. :D

      BTW...what's wrong with sloths?!?!? ;P

  10. He ate a condiment or sauce?!?! Can't wait to see what it was.
My kids went trick-or-treating and I still bought 50% off Halloween candy. I was actually giddy when I realized I HAD to go to the grocery store on Halloween, when candy goes on sale.
I have been to so many rainy soccer games. I don't mind rainy, though, as much as cold ones. I hate being cold.
I did yoga once, and, like you, paid no heed to the instructor who told us to go at our own pace. That competitive nature in me took over, and I had trouble moving for days. Take it a bit easier next time, but still take that Advil! :)
Two whole days of being at home? Awesome. Getting nothing done? I love you even more. :)

    1. It was sauce. Well...an itty-bitty-bit of sauce. That counts though right???
I love that I'm not the only one that gets giddy about getting things at 50% off.
You need to sit in the car like COW at those rainy soccer games. :)

Oh you'd be impressed at how good I am at getting nothing done.

  11. I am glad you are having so much success with Operation IFO! That is so awesome! And don't worry. You aren't missing out on much by not having Trick-or-treaters.

    1. G took the boys out when they were little and I would either go give out candy at my mom's or else have to go drink wine at a friend's (which wasn't fun at all!) ;P

      Thanks for the support!

  12. I am waaa impressed that you are a boxer!! How did I not know this? You are also very brave with condiments and sauces. Looking forward to seeing how that goes.
